TEAM NEWS: DYNAMIC TALENT IN UNDER 23S SQUAD

RAMS have named a blend of players with first-team experience, Reading University students and recent Colts for tonight’s Under 23s fixture at home to old rivals Chinnor (7.45pm).

Harry Bicknell starts at hooker having made his National One debut at Leicester Lions last month, two double league-winning Colts and Berkshire Under 20s props in Ollie Ireland and Jayden Benham joining him in the front row.

Paddy Jackson joined Bicknell in making his first Level Three appearance at Westleigh Park and is partnered in the engine room by Will Burroughs.

Reading University supply back row

Jacob Kyte impressed for the Development XV at Cambridge University recently and starts on the blind-side, fellow Reading University duo Max Hughes and Harry Judd completing the back row.

Summer signing and former Cardiff Met graduate Louis Pereira takes the No. 9 jersey having touched down for Rams against Dings Crusaders back in September.

He is joined in the half-backs by the elegant James Gilman, while George Tomlinson is at inside centre having made a big impression in the pre-season fixture with Aberavon before injury struck.

Hard-carrying Isaack Tokura joins him in midfield, with two more Reading University flyers, Llyr Jones and Ethan Bassett, on the wings.

The latter was outstanding for Berkshire Under 20s in their recent thrashing of Oxford University Whippets, and the in-form Theo Pett-Ridge – a hat-trick scorer that day who added two more for Maidenhead 2nd XV on Saturday – rounds out the side at full-back.

Recent Colts ready among replacements

Prop Fraser Shaw impressed for Berkshire Under 18s last term and is joined in providing front row cover with another recent Colt, hooker Ant Jessett.

Two more of the dual title-winners, second row Charlie Burton and back rower Jack Rushton, also feature, with the rangy Ollie McGlennon completing the pack replacements.

Half-backs Louis Roumignac and Matt Cox also possess OBB Division One medals along with centre Paddy Brown, the trio ready to add impetus among the three-quarters.

The 24-man squad is finished by Reading University speedster Alec Formela.

Entry for what promises to be a quality contest is free, with food and drink on sale.
