NATIONAL ONE ROUND-UP – WEEK 20

A BRILLIANT second-half comeback helped leaders Rotherham Titans defeat hosts Tonbridge Juddians 41-21.

Lloyd Hayes converted an early Mitchell Lacey-Babalola score to put the Yorkshiremen in front before their opponents levelled through Lewis Gjaltema and Connor Lloyd.

A Luke Cole five-pointer nudged Titans back in front, but converted tries from Will Holling and Alfie Scopes made it 21-12 to TJs.

Hayes added to an Isaac Shaw effort just before the break, and Roth surged to victory with second-half JB Bruzulier, Shaw and Morgan Veness efforts.

Hayes landed two more conversions and a penalty to complete the scoring.

Plymouth prevail at Moseley

Second-placed Plymouth Albion remain a point behind Titans’ after a 27-20 triumph at Birmingham Moseley.

A Harry Wilkinson try and Iwan Jenkins penalty had the visitors 8-0 up before Jack Jolly converted Ben Pogson’s score.

Jenkins was on target after Oscar Stewart crossed before the break, Jolly then landing a penalty.

Noah Fenton’s debut try made it 20-10, but Mose stayed in the game as Jolly slotted after Sam McNulty went over.

Ben Moa’s seven-pointer gave Albion breathing space, with Tommy Taylor’s late penalty salvaging a losing bonus-point for Birmingham.

Park sneak stunning Sale clash

Rosslyn Park won their fifth-versus-fourth home thriller with Sale FC 36-34.

Bill Johnston converted two Charlie Walker tries to put Park 14-0 up in five minutes, their opponents on the board through Evan Mintern.

A James Cordy-Redden seven-pointer extended Park’s lead, but Sale led 24-21 at half-time thanks to a Joe Green double, two conversions and a Dylan Hodkinson effort.

Tom Walsh and Joe Luca Smith exchanged scores before Dan Birchall pushed the visitors 34-26 up.

But Johnston landed following Ed Volley’s try and then struck a match-winning 78th-minute penalty, albeit Sale missed a shot themselves with the final play.

Stortford and Tykes seal comeback successes

A brilliant fightback helped Bishop’s Stortford move nine points clear of the drop zone with a 34-24 home win against second-bottom Clifton.

A Chris Bolton penalty edged Stortford ahead, only for their rivals to hit back with a Will Owen try.

The hosts regained the lead after the break as Harrison Langworthy touched down, but Clifton surged 19-8 up as James McKinney converted two Ollie Harris tries.

But Bishop’s rallied with Isaac Bell, Bolton, Harry Clarke and Jack Biard all over.

Bolton added three kicks to complete the scoring.

Leeds Tykes made it three wins on the spin with a thrilling 33-29 triumph at basement side Leicester Lions.

The hosts led after Luke Bouchier added to a Liam Burrows effort, but Tykes replied through Aarin Yorke and Alex Pleasants, Ed Crossland converting the latter.

He repeated the trick after Sebi Krippner touched down early in the second half, but Bouchier landed after Burrows and Bronson Mellowes crossed.

Bertie Bradshaw’s seven-pointer put Leeds 26-21 in front, but Burrows’ hat-trick score and a Bouchier penalty swung things back to Lions.

However, it was Krippner and Crossland who landed the decisive blow.

Crucial win for Crusaders

Third-bottom Dings Crusaders beat visitors Sedgley Park 19-0 to boost their survival bid.

George Boulton converted a Tomos Gwilliams try at the end of the first half, Alpha Ly and George Taylor crossing after the break.

Rams, meanwhile, lost 21-5 at third-placed Blackheath.
