NATIONAL ONE ROUND-UP – WEEK 13

A DOMINANT final quarter guided Rotherham Titans to a 40-15 home win against Sedgley Park and a five-point lead at the top-of-the-table.

The visitors took an early lead as Oli Glasse converted a Ben Gregory try, Mitchell Lacey-Babalola cutting the gap for Titans.

Glasse landed a penalty before Lloyd Hayes added to John Okafor’s effort for 12-10 at the break.

Sedgley, though, regained the lead as Andy Riley touched down.

Rotherham pulled clear late on, however, Hayes on target after Travis Gordon, Luke Cole, Xavier Valentine and Jackson Barling crossed.

Albion and Club maintain promotion pushes

With Rams upsetting Rosslyn Park 40-29, Plymouth Albion climbed to second with a hard-fought 24-14 home success against Sale FC.

A Iwan Jenkins penalty put the Devonians in front, only for Joe Green to convert both of Freddie Reader’s tries for the Dogs.

Plymouth led at the break, though, Jenkins adding to scores from Archie Hill and Harry Wilkinson, and the fly-half repeated the trick after Angus Hodges dived over midway through the final quarter.

Blackheath leapfrogged Sale into fourth with a 36-28 home success versus Leeds Tykes.

Two early Seramai Turagabeci penalties put the Yorkshiremen in front, only for Tom Emery and Jake Hennessey to dot down for Club.

A converted Ben Dixon try put Leeds back in front, but Matt Dalrymple found his range after Finn Osborne and Billy Harding went over for the hosts.

Blackheath extended their lead to 29-13 as Hennessey doubled up, but Tykes hit back through debutant Bertie Bradshaw.

An Ed Scragg seven-pointer made the game safe for Club, but the visitors snatched a try bonus-point as Bradshaw and Jonny Teague went over in the final three minutes.

Five-star Stortford win again

Bishop’s Stortford made it five wins on the spin with a superb 26-24 victory at Tonbridge Juddians.

An Isaac Bell try put the away side in front, TJs responding as Henry Kirwan and Tom Kendrick nudged their side 10-7 up.

Bishop’s were nine points clear at the interval as Chris Bolton converted tries from Austin Pope and Jake Morris, but TJs rallied after the break.

Connor Lloyd added to scores from Kendrick and Harrison Simms, but a Morris seven-pointer gave Stortford the lead with five minutes remaining.

And despite the hosts having a final-play chance to snatch the win, Lloyd was unable to land a long-range penalty attempt.

Important victories for Moseley and Dings

Birmingham Moseley’s second straight win saw them out of the relegation zone following a commanding 38-7 home triumph against Clifton.

Jack Jolly converted a Tuoyo Egodo try before Ben Pogson made it 12-0 to the Midlanders at half-time.

Clifton reduced the arrears at Tom Gwilliam was on target following a Will Owen effort, but Mose then scored 26 unanswered points.

Sam Clarke (twice), Ethan Priest and Pogson all touched down as Jolly and Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley (two) added conversions.

Dings Crusaders boosted their survival hopes with a 41-24 home success versus bottom side Leicester Lions.

Tries from Harry Rowson and Sam Cantwell, the latter converted by Raff Weston, had the Bristolians in front before Lions got on the board thanks to Jake Sterling and the boot of Theo Mannion.

Weston and Jack Evans exchanged five-pointers, but the former was on target after George Boulton went over for 24-12 at the interval.

Omar Ly extended the lead before Sterland doubled up, only for Weston to convert Cantwell’’s second for 36-17.

Leicester kept fighting and Mannion was on target after Bronson Mellowes touched down, Jeffrey Young making the game safe for Crusaders.
