What our business does: Commercial insurance brokers for businesses of all sizes, as well as charities and other not-for-profit organisations.
Why we sponsor Rams: Supporting rugby development in the local area.
Favourite Rams match: The one we sponsored last year against Sale – we were coming off six straight losses to them, but pulled out a 33-0 victory.
It was tactically very astute from our lads – we just kept pinning them back in their half with a great kicking game.
Worst Rams match: I could pick out a few of my age group’s matches against local opposition…
Favourite things
Favourite Rams try: I’ve had to update this recently. Max’s grubber into the corner against Dings. Any other finish and all everyone’s talking about is Morgan’s pace, power and footwork – and then Max chucked that in.
Favourite Rams player: Max Hayman. Very dependable mixed with dynamism (see above!!) He coached with our age group the season before last, so he’s also putting it in for the wider club.
Favourite ever try: Jason Robinson in the World Cup Final 2003.
Favourite ever player: Mick “The Munch” Skinner. Playing for England when I was just getting into rugby.
Favourite food: Barbecue. Anything on a barbecue.
Favourite drink: Beer. Or wine. Or whisky. Also Ovaltine these days. I may be getting old.
Favourite travel destination: Barcelona. But Greek islands have put in a good showing in recent years.
Favourite TV show: QI
Favourite musician: Really difficult. Ben Howard maybe.
Favourite song: Teal by Wunderhorse.
Favourite rugby ground: OBR.
Favourite other sports: Football. Golf. CrossFit (which I really enjoy, but I’m mainly saying it as mentioning it annoys people!!).
Final thoughts
One rule change you’d make in rugby: Not sure I’d change anything, but more consistency as to what constitutes a forward pass, and how it’s enforced.
Best thing about Rams RFC: The family feel. The first time I came to the club with a mate it really came across as a friendly, welcoming club. You definitely don’t get that at certain other clubs.
