The visitors started strongly and took the lead following a spell of sustained pressure, captain Aaron Preston barging over following a tap-and-go penalty which Matt Cox added the extras to.
Rams continued to enjoy the better of possession and territory, yet came up against a resolute defence from the Lily Hill men which stopped them adding to their tally until the final play of the opening half.
However, the away side were able to deservedly double their tally, Matt Hill going over at the back of a powerful driving line-out, Cox’s kick making it 14-0 at the break.
Rams kick on
Despite playing up the slope, Bracknell came out of the blocks strongly in the second period, showing plenty of attacking intent before their opponents grabbed a third try somewhat against the run of play – Luke Thorpe intercepting a pass to run in from 30 metres for a converted score.
The try inspired a purple patch for Rams, who sealed the bonus-point when Jack Mander powered over before their best effort of the day, Ryan Carr finishing a sweeping backs’ move before Cox missed his first kick of the afternoon.
With two minutes remaining the visitors scored again, another free-flowing attacking move finished from close range by Jake Scott, the conversion taking their tally to 40.
However, it was Bracknell who had the final word with a try deep into injury-time, a richly deserved score given how much they had contributed to a tough and well-spirited encounter.
Table-topping Rams host also unbeaten Windsor, who sit two points behind the leaders, in a straight shoot-out for silverware on Sunday, March 9.
