It was a third straight home triumph and was inspired by a three-try salvo in just nine minutes at the end of the first quarter, two from Luke Graham and one from fellow wing Charlie Robson having the hosts 21-7 up.
Moseley levelled early in the second half, but Mike landed a penalty and the remained perfect from the tee after Max Hayman blasted over.
And while Moseley salvaged two bonus points late on, it was too little, too late.
Mike admitted: “Midway through the first half I thought we might run away with the game, but then after the break we let them back into it – they’re a very physical team who mauled us off the park at times and that’s something we’ll need to look at.
“But we stuck at it very well and the forwards were superb, it’s great to get the five points.
“It’s a very fun style we’re looking to play – we want to be very expansive and on dry, sunny days we’re able to make it work.
“But we’re learning to strike a balance and a big Birmingham team showed we’ve got to be able to do other things as well.”
‘Amazing’ crowd
A sizable crowd of 1,054 were on hand to watch a game which dragged in stages, but Mike was still impressed – as well as being back playing with the sun on his back.
He ended: “The crowd were amazing and the best I’ve seen at Old Bath Road so far, it was a really nice experience!
“It’s much more fun down in the south than the weather we’ve had up north, but I’m loving it here and I believe we’re only going to get better.”
Rams visit Clifton on Saturday (3pm).
