Worse was to follow as he suffered a cardiac arrest – his girlfriend Kitty performed CPR before the emergency services helped bring him back to life – and has since raised more than £30,000 for charity.

Given the all-clear to become the first professional or semi-pro to play rugby with an S-ICD, he switched from neighbours Henley Hawks ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and scored four tries in his first two games.
