NATIONAL ONE ROUND-UP – WEEK 18

RELENTLESS table-toppers Plymouth Albion brushed aside hosts Dings Crusaders 52-24 as they recorded a ninth consecutive National One victory.

Iwan Jenkins converted a Frankie Dart try before Sam Cantwell went over for Dings.

But Plymouth led 33-5 at the break as Louie Gulley (two), Archie Hill and Bobby Wigginton touched down, Jenkins with three more kicks.

Gulley completed his hat-trick before Matt Jones dotted down for Dings.

But Ben Moa and Dart helped push Plymouth past 50, Jenkins and Dart with a conversion apiece.

Crusaders secured a try bonus, though, Omar Ly and Josh Carr over as George Boulton found his range from the tee.

Titans maintain title tilt

Rotherham Titans remain four points off the top after a magnificent 36-26 win at Rosslyn Park.

The Londoners grabbed an early lead as Bill Johnston added to a Tom Stanton try, their opponents levelling through John Okafor and Lloyd Hayes.

But Joe Luca Smith crossed to put Rosslyn back in front.

The visitors took control as Hayes slotted following tries from Jack Baldry and Mitchell Lacey-Babalola for 21-12 at the break.

A Charlie Piper seven-pointer cut the gap at the start of the second half, only for the prolific Jackson Barling to nudge Titans clear again.

Lacey-Babalola doubled up before five more points from the boot of Hayes extended the Rotherham advantage to 36-19, Park snatching a bonus with a penalty try in the final 10 minutes.

Blackheath impress, Sale stumble

Third-placed Blackheath remain in title contention following a 31-19 Kent derby triumph at Tonbridge Juddians.

Connor Lloyd added to a Tom Kendrick try to put TJs ahead, but Sam Morley landed a penalty and then converted Raff Hollister’s try for Club.

Blackheath then pulled clear to 24-7 at half-time as Ed Scragg and Billy Harding touched down, Morley with two more kicks.

The fly-half repeated the trick as Luke Pollock grounded, TJs gaining a couple of consolations through Ashton Graham.

Lloyd converted the second.

Sale FC’s title chase hit a stumbling block as Bishop’s Stortford snatched a last-gasp 26-21 home win.

The hosts raced into a 14-0 lead as Chris Bolton added to scores from David Hayes and Jai Johal.

But Sale were level at the break as skipper Andy Hughes and Nathan Langdon went over, Joe Green with a brace of conversions.

A Tom Hitchcock try nudged Stortford back in front, only for James Robins to put the Dogs in front after Hughes doubled up.

Yet right at the death Frazier Kiff gave Bishop’s a vital win, Bolton adding Coup de grâce.

Tigers take down Lions

Sedgley Park moved six points clear of the drop zone with a 24-14 triumph at bottom side Leicester Lions.

An Adam Mallinson try put Tigers in front before their feline adversaries took the lead through James Stubbs and Luke Bouchier’s boot.

But Sedge pulled clear either side of the break as Andy Riley, Danny Rylance and Rhys Henderson touched down, Oli Glasse with two conversions.

And a late Bouchier seven-pointer proved merely a consolation for the hosts.

Tykes secure crucial win at the bottom

Leeds Tykes breathed life into their survival bid and dragged hosts Clifton into the bottom three with a 34-19 triumph as Station Road.

Tom Hargan’s try put the Bristolians in front, but Kieran Davies bagged a brace and Charlie Venables and Seth Eley also touched down before the break, Tykes up 22-5 as Ed Crossland landed a conversion.

A Venables seven-pointer extended the visitors’ advantage before Will Dennis made the game safe, Clifton cutting the gap in the final quarter as Ollie Millner added to scores from Freddie Myatt and Tom Anderson.

Rams produced a gutsy second-half fightback but lost 31-24 at Birmingham Moseley to leave the Berkshire side sixth in the standings.
