TEAM NEWS: THREE CHANGES AS HOADLEY SKIPPERS AT STORTFORD

ED Hoadley will captain Rams for the first time in National One as they head to Bishop’s Stortford tomorrow (3pm).

The visitors make three changes to the side beaten 26-7 at home by Blackheath a fortnight ago, with the scrum half taking over the reigns with Max Hayman still absent.

George Breese will make his maiden start at tight-head prop with Army captain Pete Austin – who represented United Kingdom Armed Forces against Germany at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium on Wednesday night – sandwiched by Paddy Harris.

The regular second row of Connor Stapley and Harry Stone are in unison for the eighth time in nine outings, with a second alteration in the pack seeing Aaron Tull and Ben Atkins swap at blind-side.

Mikey Duda continues from the off on the other side of the scrum with Willo Bicknell at No. 8.

Cooke returns to former club

Hoadley’s partnership with former Stortford man Mike Cooke – outstanding as the Hertfordshire men beat Rams back in February – continues, top-scorer Morgan MacRae again starting at 12.

Rowan Grundy is again alongside him in midfield following a fine display at Club, with October’s Player of the Month Luke Graham and ever-present Zach Clow also staying in situ.

The one change among the three-quarters sees the return of Sweden’s record try-scorer Axel Kalling-Smith on the left wing, returning after scores against Lithuania and Croatia to take his international tally to 24.

Former Swansea University prop Max Marshall is set for a debut off the bench, while at the other end of the experience ranks, James Baker could make it 446.

Atkins provides the other forwards cover, with Andrew Lamb back among the substitutes following a fine display for the Development XV against Royal Air Force.

Scrum-half Ollie Hodgson completes the matchday 20, while hooker Harry Bicknell heads to Silver Leys as a travelling reserve following a string of impressive performances for the Dev XV and Oxford Harlequins.

Liam Elston was also excellent in a try-scoring effort against the RAF, with Oli Rhoads providing cover among the three-quarters.
