ZACH CLOW: 'I'VE ALREADY FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS AMAZING CLUB'

Rich Ashton14 Feb 2023 - 12:30

Wing enjoyed a debut to remember with brilliant double against Chinnor!

TWO-TRY debutant Zach Clow revealed he has already fallen in love with Rams after he made an instant impact in the Friday Night floodlit 50-31 victory against neighbours Chinnor.

The former Cardiff Met University speedster pulled off a sensational effort to dive on a Will Partington cross-kick to wrap up the bonus-point, before an even better finish saw him bounce a defender before crossing on the left.

And the second precipitated a memorable celebration as Zach flung himself into the crowd behind the dead-ball line, the London Scottish loanee explaining: “The ball came my way and I look for open space all the time – running’s part of my game – and I enjoy a big dive and theatrical celebration, but hopefully next time a few of the fans will give me more of an embrace!

“I was so happy with how it went and I can’t wait for things moving forward. Hopefully we can have a big finish to the season.”

Few players enjoy a first start under the lights and live-streamed on YouTube, and Zach continued: “The turnout from the Rams fans was one for the books, Old Bath Road was bouncing.

“The tries were really nice to get, especially on debut. As a wing you’re always looking for them, and I just wanted to get my hands on the ball as much as possible and have the chance to finish anything when I had the chance.

“But I’ve got to give credit to the forwards, they put in a heck of a shift and everyone defensively as well.”

Aside from his double Zach also produced a beautiful assist for Max Hayman’s try, and he said: “When I came into rugby I always backed myself to run, but I’ve really worked on my handling, the catch-pass, kick and also getting off-loading into my game because you need to have it all in your game.

“It was a great finish by Maxy – he’s got a lot of wheels for a hooker and he’s a big guy to take down – so I was really happy he got over.”

Having collected four tries in three Titans before his debut, Zach ended: “Rams is an amazing club. I’ve said to my family, this place is also like a family – I’m sure other people have said it but the support is amazing and the boys are really welcoming.

“Seb and the other coaches are brilliant at bringing people in and they’ve given me a new level of confidence back to my game because they’ve shown so much belief in me.

“They’ve told me to do what I want each week and I just love the club already.”
