TOP-SCORING GAMES NO. 29 - 61!

Crackers with Taunton, Cambridge and Clifton, and a couple of good wins against Amersham & Chiltern and Bridgwater & Albion!

Rams 22-39 Taunton (September 3, 2016)

Rams suffered an opening-day home defeat despite rallying from a 27-3 half-time deficit.

Man-of-the-match Gary Kingdom put the visitors in front with a first-minute penalty, and then exchanged kicks with Jacob Atkins inside the opening 10 minutes.

The first try came from Jon Gatford, and with Aron Struminski and Gatford again going over before the interval – Kingdom maintaining his perfect record – Taunton had taken the game by the scruff of the neck.

Samir Kharbouch’s try early in the second period gave the home side hope, but Struminski’s second re-established the 24-point difference.

A converted Jamie Guttridge score and a penalty try reduced the arrears to 32-22 with 10 minutes remaining, but when Kingdom added the extras to a Ted Landray effort shortly after, the Somerset men had done enough.

Cambridge 38-23 Rams (December 5, 2015)

Rams picked up a try bonus-point in defeat against an impressive Cambridge side.

They suffered pre-match disruption as fly-half Luke Flower went down in the warm-up, meaning youngster Jack Hill came in at scrum-half and Sam Brown switched to stand-off.

However, they made a fine start as Craig Nightingale went over at the back of a rolling maul and Brown kicked a penalty.

Cambridge struck back with a George Furbank try improved by Gerhard Boshoff, but a superb Olly Poole break then set-up Sean McDermottroe to reaffirm Rams’ advantage at 13-7.

The hosts rallied in the five minutes before the break, though, taking the lead through an Albert Portsmouth try and one for Boshoff, who added the extras to make it 19-13.

In a topsy-turvey affair, it was Rams who came out flying in the third quarter, grabbing tries through Will Morrison and Olly Foxley to take a four-point lead – the latter set-up by a brilliant 30-metre break from Hill.

Yet Cambridge regrouped and used their skilful backs to steal the victory, three further tries from Portsmouth, Lawrence Hutchinson and Alex Moon, two converted by Boshoff, completing the scoring.

Rams 56-5 Amersham & Chiltern (October 15, 2011)

Dom Gosling led the Rams charge as his two tries were among eight scored by the hosts in a one-sided affair.

Jevon Marsh, Aaron Hopkins, Azza Hopkins, Seb Reynolds, Jez Flynn and Mike Turner also crossed the whitewash and Shaun Brown kicked 16 points made up of five conversions and two penalties.

Rams 37-24 Bridgwater & Albion (December 11, 2010)

Andy Amor bagged a brace and Jevon Marsh also dotted down in an entertaining encounter.

Rams also earned a penalty try and were thankful for the accurate boot of Spike Chandler, who slotted four conversions and three penalties to keep the visitors at arm’s length.

Clifton 29-32 Rams (May 2, 2009)

Robbie Stapley crossed twice and Betts and Seb Reynolds also got their names on the scoresheet as Rams finished their season with a hard-fought victory in Bristol, Spike Chandler chipping in with 12 points made up of three conversions and a pair of penalties.
