TOP TRY SCORERS AT THE END OF JANUARY

TOP TRY SCORERS AT THE END OF JANUARY

Rich Ashton1 Feb 2023 - 12:45

Productive month for Max and Birdy!

TRIES against both Bishop’s Stortford and Cambridge have helped Max Hayman close to within three of Jak Rossiter at the top of the seasonal scoring chart at the end of January.

Wing Jak grabbed his 14th of the campaign at Hull to remain just four off Cambridge’s Kwaku Asiedu and Cinderford hooker Nathan Taylor at the head of the league proceedings, while Max is now up to 11.

RAMS’ most prolific try-scorer in the first month of 2023 was Henry Bird, who followed up the opener at Hull with a brace at Cambridge on Saturday – the second one which will go down in the club’s history as it completed one of the greatest ever comebacks in a 33-27 triumph.

Charlie Robson’s effort to wrap up the bonus-point against Bishop’s Stortford took him to six for the season, with James McRae one behind.

Ollie Cole’s solo stunner at Hull drew him level with Ant Marris on four apiece, while Josh Collis got the fourth that day to move level with Connor Hayhow, Drew Humberstone, Ellis Jones and Axel Kalling-Smith on three.

Hooker Ben Henderson began the second-half fight-back at Cambridge with his second of the campaign and 51st in total, with Will Partington matching that tally in levelling up with Michael Dykes – London Irish’s hat-trick hero on Premiership debut against Harlequins on Sunday – Vince Everitt, Ollie Moffitt and Alex Seers.

Ollie Allan and Dan Swain both claimed their maiden RAMS’ tries in the Bishop’s Stortford success, becoming the 23rd and 24th players to touch down this season.

James Baker, Ross Crame, captain Robbie Stapley and Ollie Taylor are the other players to have crossed the whitewash on one occasion so far this term.

In total RAMS have scored 84 tries in 16 games at an average of 52.5 per game, earning a bonus-point in every outing aside from the trip to Cinderford and behind only Rosslyn Park (89 in 18 games) as the league’s top scorers.
