TEAM NEWS: RAMS UNCHANGED FOR FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS

Rich Ashton19 Jan 2024 - 12:30

Coaches keep the faith for National One trip to Rosslyn Park!

RAMS have named an unchanged team for the first time in 1,806 days and 103 matches for tomorrow’s trip to Rosslyn Park.

Having returned to winning ways with a 28-7 home success against Sedgley Park, Director of Rugby Seb Reynolds keeps the faith with not only the starting 15, but the matchday 20, for the first time since February 2019.

It means teenage full-back George Makepeace-Cubitt – whose beautiful out-the-back pass proved pivotal to Mike Hoyt’s Try of the Week contender – retains his spot at full back with Henry Bird and Zach Clow on the wings.

Swedish star Axel Kalling-Smith and vice-captain Drew Humberstone are paired together in midfield, while stand-off Fraser Honey matches the latter’s effort in extending his run to 16 consecutive starts this term, Ed Hoadley inside him at scrum-half.

Loosehead prop Ant Marris played the full 80 minutes last week and is joined in the front row by the third player to have started every game, hooker Max Hayman, and the indefatigable James Baker.

Connor Stapley and Dan Swain have been a regular combination in behind and are once again paired together in the second row, while last week’s man-of-the-match Hoyt again starts on the blind-side flank.

Alongside him in the back row are Ben Atkins – keeping up his record of featuring in every squad – with captain Robbie Stapley completing the side at No. 8.

Dynamic and versatile young front rows Calum Scott and Paul Englezos are joined by the classy James McRae – returning to his boyhood club – in covering the forwards from the bench, while two more young guns in electric scrum-half Ollie Monye and Rowan Grundy complete the replacements.

The backs duo combined to seal the bonus-point against Sedgley last time out.
Also heading to The Rock as traveling reserves are prop Paddy Harris and back three speedster Charlie Robson, the latter fresh from scoring four times for the Titans against Dorking A last Saturday.
