TEAM NEWS: HOADLEY MAKES LONG-AWAITED RETURN

ED Hoadley returns from more than a year out of action to captain Rams Development in their floodlit home clash against Chinnor Under 23s tonight (7.45pm).

The scrum-half, who suffered an ACL injury in the 78th minute of a sublime performance in the 33-0 victory against Sale last September, leads a strong-looking side containing 10 players with first-team caps totalling more than 230.

Andrew Lamb starts outside Hoadley with Rowan Grundy and Ellis Jones partnered in midfield.

Two more players to have featured in National One this season, Tomek Pozniak and Oli Rhoads, are on the wings with recent colt Theo Pett-Ridge at full-back.

Army captain Pete Austin is sandwiched at hooker by Max Marshall and George Breese, the latter unfortunate to fall sick ahead of a maiden first-team start at Leeds Tykes recently.

Liam Elston and Paddy Jackson form a youthful combination behind, with Phil Poppy joined in the back row by summer signings Aaron Tull and Max Brown.

Young bench ready for action

Last year’s Colt Obi Nwachuku has caught the eye at prop in the victories against Bristol University and Army Under 23s, hooker Harry Bicknell also ready to make an impact off the bench.

Elsewhere, two-time Colts title-winning skipper Aaron Preston is joined by Judd Greenhalgh, Olly Marsh and Sam Thain in covering the remainder of the pack.

Scrum-half Ollie Hodgson is the final player in the squad with Level Three experience having won his 18th cap off the bench against Birmingham Moseley on Saturday, while James Gilman is Lamb’s fly-half replacement.

Powerful teenager Jake Jackson has impressed in midfield, while Sam Bowen and Alex Mannhardt both possess extreme pace out wide.

Entry for tonight’s game is free with gates opening at 6.15pm.
