RAMS Under 14s enjoyed a fantastic first Sevens tournament triumph in their maiden event, toppling neighbours Chinnor 24-12 to scoop the Buckinghamshire title silverware on Sunday.
A remarkable pool stage saw the Berkshire boys begin their campaign with a 35-0 victory against Saracens, then overcoming Chipstead 26-5 before slipping to a narrow 19-17 reverse versus Chinnor.
A 35-5 success against Beaconsfield was followed by a 19-12 victory against Chipstead 2nds to take them into their memorable final success.
Delighted coach Nick Flynn paid tribute to his squad, stating: “It was our first-ever tournament after just one training session, but I was hoping we’d do okay because we’ve got lots of skill and pace.
“While we’ve had a great 15-a-side season, we don’t have massive kids like many of our opposition, so it was wonderful to see the lads produce the goods.”
