SAM Boxhall scored his first Inter-Services Championship try, but it was not enough to prevent The Royal Air Force going gown 27-17 to The Navy at Franklin’s Gardens.
A Ben Chambers score gave Navy the lead before Jake Hanley converted and added two penalties for 13-0.
Yet Rams’ scrum-half Boxhall raced down the touchline for a brilliant try before the break, only for his side’s opponents to regather themselves via a Will Riglesford five-pointer.
Mark Williams added to a James Roberts try to cut the gap to 18-12, but another Hanley kick gave Navy breathing space again.
That was cut to four points as Kieran Prescott crossed the whitewash, but it was Navy who sealed the deal with a couple more sweet strikes from Hanley’s boot.
The Air Force face British Army as Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium on Saturday, May 17, with Boxhall’s fellow Ram Solodrau Radiainirova likely to be representing the Red Shirts.
They begin there is Championship against Navy on Saturday, May 3.
