Previous game vs. Rams
Sedgley Park 20-41 Rams (September, 2023)
Recent Form: Strong throughout the season despite the surprise 24-17 home loss to Blackheath last Saturday.
A brilliant comeback pre-Christmas win at home to Birmingham Moseley (32-26) followed a tricky 22-3 reverse at Plymouth Albion, but that setback followed one of the stand-out performances of the whole league season when Tigers won 43-19 at Cinderford.
A superb 26-11 home win against Sale followed a 25-18 loss at Darlington Mowden Park, although Sedgley went into that trip on the back of a three-match winning streak against Leicester Lions (25-20), Bishop’s Stortford (45-33) and Taunton Titans (32-28).
Tigers’ one significant blip came at Rosslyn Park when they were crushed 67-15 in Week Five, but they had previously started magnificently with a 27-21 home triumph against Chinnor following a 41-20 loss to Rams, the season starting with wins at Birmingham Moseley (44-21) and right at the death against Richmond (32-31).
Players to Watch:
Danny Maher – Hooker returned from Blackburn in the summer of 2022, and has proved a prolific try-scorer with 25 in 31 matches.
Leads the way with nine this term – including one against Rams earlier in the campaign – and has played for England Counties.
Tom Ailes – The No. 8 switched from neighbours Sale in 2018 and has gone onto play 87 times for Tigers.
Averages a try more than every three games with 35 in total, including five in Sedge’s return to National One.
Rhys Henderson – Wing is a lethal finisher who joint heads the way with Andy Riley among Sedgley’s backs this season, having touched down five times in an ever-present 14 appearances.
Having joined Tigers ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, his overall record is outstanding with 50 in 62 matches.
NB – Fly-half Warren Seals is the top point-scorer in National One having racked up 138 so far.
