Geese gobbled up (2016), Chinnor loss (2011), Saunders stars against Slough (2005), Porter double beats Portsmouth (1983) and much, much more!

On this day in history in…

1960 – Old Redingensians lost their seasonal opener 46-0 at Portsmouth.

1966 – A Barry Greenwood double and further tries from Johnston and D Jones inspired Gensians to a 16-6 home win against Portsmouth, the former completing a man-of-the-match display with a pair of conversions.

1977 – Redingensians defeated visitors Portsmouth 20-13.

1983 – Dickie Porter dotted down twice and Graham Tibbett, Joe Bell, Steve Hunt and Graham Smith also crossed the whitewash as the boys in blue blasted Portsmouth 33-0.

Tibbett completed the scoring by landing three conversions and a penalty.

1988 – Gensians were beaten 11-0 at Bournemouth.

1994 – Gordon Bookless kicked a penalty, but it was barely a consolation as Redingensians were thumped 44-3 at Oxford Marathon.

2005 – A Ben Saunders hat-trick was the highlight of a nine-try, 55-10 destruction of Slough from the eventual Southern Counties South champions.

Rob Castell grabbed a double and Andy Fairweather, Seb Reynolds, Stuart Mills and JJ Bell also dotted down, while Andy Webb landed three conversions and Andy Amor two.

2011 – A Jevon Marsh try ensured Rams picked up a losing bonus-point from a 12-5 defeat at Chinnor.

2016 – Rams overcame wet conditions to beat London Irish Wild Geese 28-3 on the back of a penalty try and further scores from Ollie Taylor and Robbie Stapley.

Jacob Atkins also added 13 points with the boot thanks to a brace of conversions and three penalties.
