Normally a scrum-half, Hodgy switches to the wing as one of five changes to the team which beat Leicester Lions 73-38 last time out.
A first time guest on BBC Radio Berkshire’s Weekend Kick-off show last night, the 21-year-old is buzzing for the remainder of the campaign.
He told host Tim Dellor: “We’ve got nothing to lose in the last three weeks, we’ll be giving it our all to build for next season.
“We want to enjoy it.
“We’ve got the licence to play and all the boys are ready to throw the ball around and give it a go.
“There’s no pressure and we’re raring to go.”
‘Lions win a great afternoon’
This showed in the Lions victory with Ollie continuing: “It was a nice dry day.
“A good track and with the amount of off-loading we do in training, it was nice for it to come off.
“It was a great afternoon.”
Joining from Maidenhead ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Hodgy’s efforts were restricted by a serious shoulder injury.
But he bounced back to make 14 appearances at the back end of the following season, scoring three tries including one against this afternoon’s opponents.
And his resounding toughness and durability means today will be his 22nd outing of the season.
He commented: “It’s been good. We’ve got a hard S&C coach (Phil Hoy) whose worked us pretty hard, but it’s meant a lot of boys have got plenty of minutes – and luckily I’m one of those!
“The last two seasons have been great for my development.”
Concluding his quizzing, Ollie hopes to retain his Young Player of the Year Award from last May.
He coyly replied: “There’s a couple of other boys who’ll be looking for it, but as I’m still only 21, I’m going for it as well!”
