The talented multi-sportsman arrives having impressed during a maiden National One campaign with Clifton where he featured 17 times.
Shay debuted for the Lavender & Blacks as an 18-year-old back in February 2023, and later helped them win National Two West at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Shortly after that success he played for The Barbarians against Durham University.
In total he featured 71 times for Clifton.
Now standing 6ft 4in and weighing 115kg, the lock’s rugby journey began playing tag at Headley Park Primary School in Bristol.
He joined Broad Plain RFC as a junior but took a break from the game to focus on cricket.
Shay earned a scholarship to Clifton College and represented both Somerset and Gloucestershire at age group level.
He has since played for Gloucestershire 2nds and in the West of England Premier League for Bedminster.
Having returned to rugby at Clifton College, Shay made a significant impression in Sixth Form, earning a slot in the Bristol Bears Under 18 squad.
And with his efforts in the National Leagues in the past four years notable, Rams are delighted to have him on board.
