The Canada Under 20s international is the eighth player to arrive at Old Bath Road this summer, and the fourth from Cardiff Met University.
At 6ft 6in and weighing 120kg, the enforcer first got involved in rugby at Chobham RFC.
But it was at Sidmouth he really kicked on as an eight-year-old, progressing through the club to the senior section.
Ryan was educated firstly at St John’s Sidmouth and then Wellington School in Somerset.
He then moved to Wales to study economics, earning a first call-up to international age-group rugby.
And the 21-year-old lock was then also included in the senior squad for last year’s European tour to Romania, Georgia and Portugal.
