NATIONAL ONE ROUND-UP – WEEK SIX

TONBRIDGE Juddians’ incredible start to the season continued with a sixth consecutive bonus-point win.

The Kent side toppled hosts Bishops’ Stortford 36-32 in yet another cracker.

They took the lead as Connor Lloyd added to Oscar Waite’s effort, albeit Mathis Dehauteur replied.

Fellow Saracen loanees Reggie Hammick bagged a brace and a Ben Morrow conversion had Stortford 17-7 in front.

Sam Moreton-Smith grabbed the visitors’ second try before Morrow landed a penalty.

But five-pointers from Harrison Langworthy and Will Holling had TJs 22-20 up at half time.

And Lloyd then converted his own try and a second from Morton-Smith to give his side control.

Yet Stortford rallied with Seva Kava and Tom Hitchcock on the scoresheet, Morrow with another two points.

TJs, though, held on to make it a super six successes while having a points difference of just +17.

Albion march on in Sale

Plymouth Albion relentlessly march on at the top-of-the-table following a 31-21 triumph at Sale FC.

The Devonians fell behind for the first time this term as The Dogs went 14-0 up midway through the first quarter, Osian Roberts with a brace and James Robins twice on target from the tee.

Yet the scores were level at the break, Iwan Jenkins landing following scores from Sam Daly and Morgan Eames.

And two converted Noah Fenton tries, plus a Jenkins penalty, saw Albion – whose points difference is a remarkable +245 – clear before a late Sale consolation seven-pointer from Alfie Longstaff.

Joe Green was the kicker this time.

Town, Tykes continue to climb

Camborne made it five wins from six at Level Three with a 59-26 triumph at bottom side Cambridge.

Jago Sheppard crossed for the visitors before Benji Ritson responded, Luke Bouchier nudging the Blood & Sand in front.

But Sam Matavesi and Ben Power hit back for Town, Fraser Honey with two kicks.

Cambridge tries either side of the break from Harry Tunningley and Ruaridh Dawson, plus a Bouchier nudge, levelled things at 19-19.

The visitors, though, powered clear with a 40-point blitz.

Matavesi completed his hat-trick before brother Joel, Frankie Nowell, Matt Sheppherd and Power also dotted down, Honey with five more kicks.

Dawson doubled up to secure a bonus-point, Bouchier with an injury-time conversion.

Leeds Tykes overcame a slow start to move up to fifth with a high-scoring 40-35 win at Dings Crusaders.

Louie Sinclair was on target after first-quarter tries from Tom Knight and Anton Welling to put the Bristolians in charge.

Matt Salisbury crossed for Tykes, Eddie Crossland with the extras, but Tom Foot’s seven-pointer had Dings 21-7 up at half-time.

But Salisbury completed his treble during an astonishing spell where Leeds touched down five times in 12 minutes.

Benji Turpin, Kristian Dobson and Tom Williams were the other scorers, while Crossland’s boot made it 40-21.

Crusaders sealed two bonuses with tries from Freddie Cartwright and Archie Stanley in the last six minutes, Sam Berry twice on target.

Bonus-point wins for London pair

Rosslyn Park leapfrogged Birmingham Moseley into the top half with a 31-21 away win.

The Londoners took control with Max Trimble scoring a hat-trick inside 16 minutes, Rory Jennings on target after the second.

Harry Read added to a Harry Ingram effort for Mose, but Fred Davies replied for Park, Jennings landing for 24-7 at half time.

Birmingham’s Fin Smith and Rosslyn Tom Bell exchanged seven-pointers, and Zac Jones’ for the hosts was too little, too late.

London Scottish picked up a first win since round one with a 64-40 home success against Sheffield.

Harry Sheppard converted tries from Will Butler and Theo Vukasinovic before Sheffield got on the board, Jack Delaney landing after Will Smith crossed.

Exiles regrouped, however, captain Harry Clayton, Alex Earnshaw and Oscar Yarndell all over as two more kicks made it 33-7.

Delaney cut the deficit either side of the break after Rhodri Campbell and Elliott Fisher crossed the whitewash.

Connor Moyse and Barney Goatley grabbed a try apiece to leave Scottish 38-26 in front.

His and Campbell’s seconds were both added to, but the visitors were right in the contest when Delaney converted his own score for 45-40.

However, Vereimi Qorowale brought up the half century for the hosts.

Moyse completed his hat-trick and Will Rigelsford also went over late on as Sheppard’s boot completed the scoring.

Finally, Rams made it back-to-back home wins with a 27-7 triumph against Bury St Edmunds.
