NATIONAL ONE ROUND-UP: WEEK FOUR

PLYMOUTH Albion’s dominant start to the season continued with a thumping 50-14 victory at London Scottish.

Frankie Dart converted two early Noah Fenton tries before Connor Moyse got Exiles off the board at the start of the second quarter, Oscar Yarndell with the extras.

Albion reasserted themselves, though, tries from Jarrod Hayler and Harry Wilkinson making it 24-7 at the break.

Dart added two more kicks after Sam Daly, Rhys Williams and Bobby Wigginton dotted down, Matt Wilkinson with a seven-pointer for Scottish.

But Plymouth – yet to trail in the opening month – had the final word as Jack Oulton went over, Dart bringing up the half century.

TJs edge incredible 101-point Sale clash

Tonbridge Juddians climbed to second-place and level on 20 points with Albion following an amazing 52-49 success at previously unbeaten Sale FC.

The hosts took a fifth-minute advantage as James Mitchell converted Tye Raymont’s score, but TJs responded through Connor Lloyd, who converted his own try and one from Jack Walsh.

A Tom Walsh seven-pointer levelled things, but it was his namesake Jack who then helped the Kent men wrest control.

He scored three more tries in six minutes either side of the interval for 31-14, Lloyd with two more conversions.

Pete Vickers and Mitchell reduced the arrears before J Walsh completed a five-timer, Lloyd landing.

Fergus Mulchrone and Shadyn Osgood exchanged converted tries before Dafydd Rees and the boot of Mitchell cut the gap to 45-35.

Lloyd took his tally to 22 with a try and conversion, but The Dogs rallied through Alex Wills and Oli Longmore, Mitchell remaining perfect from the tee.

And the former thought he’d snatched victory at the death, only for a sensational cover tackle from man-of-the-match J Walsh to force a foot in touch.

Incredibly Tonbridge now have four bonus-point wins with a points difference of just +10.

Stortford and Camborne continue super starts

Fourth-placed Bishop’s Stortford cruised to an impressive 47-5 home triumph against Birmingham Moseley.

Tom Coleman’s side fell behind to a Nathan DeCalmer try, but Dan Cole converted scores from Austin Pope and Seva Kava before the break.

And Stortford then rode off into the sunset with a blistering second-half display.

Kava and Pope doubled up as Chris Bolton, Alex Osborn and Ben Morrow also crossed the whitewash.

Bolton slotted two conversions before Morrow added to his own to complete the scoring.

Camborne climbed to fifth with a 26-24 triumph at fellow newly-promoted side Sheffield.

Fraser Honey was on target after a Harry Larkins try to put the visitors in front, only for Sheffield to level through Ben Whitney and Callum Posa.

The latter then converted a Rhodri Campbell score for a half-time lead.

Frankie Nowell and Honey’s boot equalised before Will Archer put the hosts 19-14 in front.

Prolific hooker Ben Priddey levelled things only for Brayton Taylor to secure Sheffield’s try bonus-point and a five-point lead.

But Priddey’s second, added to by ex-Ram Fraser, made it three five-point away wins in a row for the impressive Cornishmen.

Back-to-back wins for Leeds

Winless Cambridge remain bottom after sixth-placed Leeds Tykes triumphed 57-33 at Eligia Fields.

Debutant Jude White put the hosts in front, Luke Bouchier converting.

But Eddie Crossland added to scores from Adam Brown, Kieran Davies, Charlie Venables and Matt Salisbury for 28-7.

A Harry Nicholls seven-pointer halved the deficit before Crossland slotted a penalty.

Eli Caven crossed for the Blood & Sand to leave them 12 behind at the break, Bouchier back on target after Jacob McCay touched down for 31-26.

Leeds, though, reasserted themselves, Davies doubling up, George Bolam over and Ben Bailey also on the scoresheet.

Two more Crossland kicks brought the half-century up, and despite a Callum Smyth seven-pointer for Cambridge, Leeds had the final word with one from Ben Turpin.

Dings and Bury play out another 100-plus contest

Dings Crusaders toppled Bury St Edmunds 68-47 in an extraordinary 17-try epic in Bristol.

The hosts raced into a 28-0 lead inside the opening quarter, Louie Sinclair adding to tries fromJake Holcombe, Will Thompson and Matt Jones (two).

BSE got off the mark through Fraser Jones before George Boulton made it 33-5.

The visitors cut the gap in half as Ben Penfold converted tries from Dylan Coetzee and George Loose.

But two Sam Cantwell seven-pointers for Dings out-did one from Patrick Robinson to leave Crusaders 47-26 ahead at the end of an 11-try opening 40 minutes.

Tom Kinght and Sinclair took the hosts past 50 before Loose doubled up and Penfold added another kick.

Sam Berry slotted following Paddy Pearce’s Dings try for 61-33, but the Bury scores kept coming via Matt Hema and Fraser Jones.

Two more Penfold conversions reduced the arrears to 14, but Crusaders finished the job with Berry landing following a late Sol Taufa effort.

Rams, meanwhile, got off the mark with a dramatic 38-34 home triumph versus Rosslyn Park.
