Name: Bill Montague
Company: Dexter Montague LLP
First year of sponsorship: 2000‘ish
What our business does: Solicitors
Why we sponsor Rams: I and two sons played at the club from the mid-90’s and I passionately believe in what it stands for as a club and sporting community.
It’s hard enough for youngsters to grow up in today’s world and I believe that team sport – and rugby in particular – have invaluable life lessons to teach.
Favourite Rams match: Rams against Cinderford in 2017 [- one of the best games I’ve
ever seen and between the two clubs I admire most.
We were bested that day, coming away with a couple of bonus points, but what a game…one for the muddied purists.
Worst Rams match: Playing for the Old Recks against the Camberley ‘G&T’s’ back in the day and losing at home 0-69. Not our finest hour!
Favourite Rams try: Any pushover try you care to choose in the OBR ‘Clubhouse Corner.'
Favourite Rams player(s): James Baker.
Favourite ever try (any rugby): As a child of the 70’s, ‘that try’ for the Baa-Baas against the All Blacks is seared on my memory and won’t ever be matched.
Favourite ever player (any rugby): Lawrence Dallaglio.
Favourite food: Lamb.
Favourite drink: Brakspear's ‘Ordinary’ was the best session pint, but these days I’d settle for a Guinness or a decent bottle of Rioja.
Favourite travel destination: UK – North Cornwall, abroad – Cuba.
Favourite TV show: Strictly Come Dancing – best ‘all-age’ family viewing ever.
Favourite musician: Brahms (well, you did ask …)
Favourite song: Chumbawumba’s “I Get Knocked Down” …. not sure why!
Favourite rugby ground(s): Principality Stadium, Cardiff.
With apologies to all Twickers' fans, but really, there’s no contest for atmosphere before, during and after a match.
Favourite other sports: Rowing (I never was much good with a ball!)
One rule change you'd make in rugby: How about a straight put-in at the scrum (but that’s already in the laws, isn’t it?)
Best thing about Rams RFC: The team culture at every level of the club.
