RAMS started the season with a five-try flourish against a game Esher side, the hosts ultimately running out 38-21 winners at Old Bath Road.
The hosts made a dream start as they took a second-minute lead, a strong rolling maul allowing the ball to be spread to Axel Kalling-Smith who blasted through three would-be tacklers before touching down.
Having been out injured for the best part of three years, fly-half Alex Seers added the extras in what would go onto be a virtuoso and man-of-the-match display, nudging Rams 7-0 in front.
A second try came shortly after as the hosts repelled a period of Esher pressure before Henry Bird intercepted and ran in from 70 metres, Seers making no mistake.
The final member of the back three, Charlie Robson, then showed the dazzling footwork which makes him a player to watch, the wing dancing his way through from some 25 metres out to score a try he had no right to.
Seers converted for 21-0, but Esher hit back as Ben Robbins crossed on the left, Sam Morley adding the extras.
The Rams pack looked powerful, though, and they wrapped up the bonus-point before the break as Max Hayman went over at the back of a maul, Seers bisecting the uprights for 28-7.
The fifth try came from Seers as his side-step created space to touch down next to the posts, the conversion never in doubt.
Esher rallied, however, and after Max Hayman was yellow carded, Kalling-Smith also went to the bin for an interception from an off-side position which led to a penalty try.
Robbins crossed for a second, Morley converting for 35-21 and the hint of a nerve-jangling finish, but a Seers penalty put the game to bed and Rams closed out the final stages efficiently.
