COOKEY, ELLIS AND GEORGE ARE BACK FOR NEW SEASON

A CENTURION, Rams’ top points-scorer last term and a young gun are on board for the 2026/27 campaign.

Mike Cooke

An off-season signing from Bishop’s Stortford last year, Cookey racked up 153 points in his first campaign at Old Bath Road.

The fly-half helped guide Rams to victory at Sedgley Park before a virtuoso display saw him knock over nine conversions in the 73-24 win against Dings Crusaders.

A man-of-the-match display saw Mike pull the strings in a 31-28 victory against Birmingham Moseley in which he kicked another 11 points.

The No. 10 grabbed his first tries with a double in the thrilling 71-38 home success against Leicester Lions.

Making 25 appearances in his debut campaign, he topped the chart with 153 points (two tries, 75 conversions and a penalty).

And the former Under 18 Ireland international is now relishing another season at OBR.

Ellis Jones

Champion centre will look to add to his 106 appearances to date.

Now heading into his 10th season at Rams, Ellis made a sensational National League debut when scoring at Canterbury in December 2017.

And a dream first campaign ended with a hat-trick at home to Henley.

The former Wales Under 16 midfielder and Newport-Gwent Dragon reached his 50th Rams’ cap against Plymouth Albion when rugby returned after the Covid break.

Ellis enjoyed his most prolific try-scoring campaign with seven in 21 outings in the 2022/23 season.

Rams were pipped at the post in the bid to reach The Champ that season, Cambridge, snatching the title and promotion a week late.

Injuries have restricted the Welshman from playing even more, but the midfield stalwart reached his ton at home to Clifton in February.

And with 25 tries so far, the experienced ace will look to add to the number next term.

George Tomlinson

Former Worcester Warriors Academy man went onto star for Reading University and Berkshire Under 20s.

A Rams’ first-team debut came at home to Sale back in January.

And while injury cut short George’s season, the versatile 10, 12 , 15 is excited to make an impact moving forward.
