RAMS will host a bonus Friday Night Lights game this week as The Oratory School take on Pangbourne College (7.30pm).
The two old rivals will face off at Old Bath Road with three Rams’ Colts among the Oratory ranks – No. 8 and captain Cian Tappan joined by second row Charlie Burton in having helped Rams to the last 16 of the National Cup – and fellow forward Debo Coker also part of Dave Cox’s squad.
From the Pangbourne side, Director of Rugby Max Clementson spent a pre-season at OBR before heading to Hartpury University, the England Sevens man and ex-Oratory pupil now plying his trade at Championship side Chinnor.
Entry for the game is free (gates open from 5.30pm) with food and drink on sale, while the event will also be a fundraiser for three charities – Brave Mind, C-R-Y and the British Heart Foundation – chosen by current Ram and Oratory alumni Morgan MacRae.
The back row/hooker suffered a cardiac arrest last year before returning to action as the only professional/semi-pro fitted with an S-ICD defibrillator fitted and has since raised more than £25,000 for charity.
Friday night’s game will be followed seven days later by Rams’ top-of-the-table National One clash with Richmond (7.45pm).
