The Berkshire-based group was founded in 1995 by Trevor Goodall and was a result of personal tragedy after his twin sons, Joshua and Samuel, were born three months prematurely, each weighing just over 1lb. Despite their incredible fight, they both died after one week.
Inspired by their courage, Trevor dedicated himself to creating a legacy in their memory and New Life is committed to funding lifesaving neonatal equipment which is often unavailable through the NHS.
Since then, the generosity of supporters has helped fund almost £2m worth of equipment to hospitals across the UK, including the Royal Berks, helping thousands of premature and very sick babies get the best start in life.
Founder excited to meet Ramily
Trevor, who is long-term friends with the Hayman family, watched the previous home game against Dings Crusaders and is looking forward to Saturday.
He said: “We’re very grateful to Rams for inviting us to the game. I never thought I would run a charity, but I often say ‘charity chose me’ – from a tragedy, what we have achieved has been both amazing and fulfilling.
“To have the chance to raise some money and get the word out about what we do with Rams is brilliant – there may be some supporters who have benefited from our work and I’m really excited to meet lots more members of the Ramily.”
‘Incredible charity’
Rams Chairman, Andy Lynch, added: “We are so happy to have our fantastic guests from New Life Special Care Babies coming to Saturday’s game.
“They are an incredible charity and as a club we are committed to supporting the community.
