BACK ROW HARRY IS NEWEST ADDITION TO THE RAMILY

'Super excited' teenager makes the switch from Coventry!

TEENAGER Harry Stone is relishing the chance to learn from and compete for a place with Rams’ vaunted back row after becoming the club’s second summer signing.

The 19-year-old, who joins the club from Coventry, cannot wait to get started and said it was a simple decision to make the move to Old Bath Road.

He explained: “Rams are in a good position to have a go at getting into the Championship next season, and I want to play the highest level of rugby I can.

“Speaking to (DoR) Seb (Reynolds) about the club was brilliant, everything is in place, and it just seems like the perfect place for me to develop.”

Revealing what he is particularly excited about, the former Moulton College student explained: “The facilities are brilliant and I’m looking forward to making good use of those.

“I’ve not had the chance to speak to any of the lads yet, but the environment Seb’s set up sounds so healthy.”

Having begun his career as a Mini at Long Buckby RFC, Harry ‘floated around’ various clubs in Northamptonshire while attending the non-rugby playing Guilsborough School.

But he was then spotted by Coventry, an Academy contract offered leading to time on loan firstly at Old Northamptonians and then at National Two West side Newport Salop in the new year.

Harry went onto score three tries in seven games before making his Championship debut for Cov against Bedford Blues, helping his side to a 54-19 victory.

And explaining what he hopes to bring to Rams and the challenges ahead, he ended: “I enjoy ball-carrying and making line breaks – that’s one of my main things – and over the past couple of years my line-out work has become one of my strengths.

“I know how strong the back row at Rams is, there’s incredible competition for places, but the chance to take advice from the others can only help my game.

“I’m sure I’ll be able to learn a lot, I’m super excited to be joining and can’t wait to get going.”

*Welcome to Rams, Harry – we look forward to seeing you in action!
